Galaxy Unmanned Systems LLC Occupies New HQ

With their business rapidly expanding and their staff increasing, GUS principals realized they needed a larger, more modern facility to accommodate their growth. There is no denying that Texas is rapidly becoming the epicentre of the US of drone and AAM innovation ecosystem.

DFW already has made the news with drone delivery going on in Frisco, pioneering use by BNSF, and Hillwood’s Alliance Texas Mobility Innovation Zone (MIZ) enthusiastically advocating for more development. The Fort Worth location puts GUS LLC in the middle of the action and near the NASA X4 testing corridors. This proximity will allow GUS to take full advantage of the newly announced FAA UTM ConOps x2.0 in the near future.

The new build-out includes a Systems Integration Lab (SIL) equipped to host local research partners, including the University of Texas at Arlington and the University of North Texas.

Additional workspace is available for collaboration with visiting commercial partners Specter Edge, Unmanned Experts et al. on current research awards and a future AFWERX National Football League STRATFI contract opportunity.

The new space also allows for a display of some of the early test bed fixed-wing systems like the 14’ wingspan, Orbiter RPV, and various components from past offerings, including the venerable “Spirit of Dallas” GC-75-G2A airship. These aircraft were all advanced for their time and represented leaps forward in unmanned aviation technology. However, what makes these aircraft historically significant is that they had the blessing of the FAA ATO to fly in DFW class Bravo airspace (with documentation) in the early 2000s.

Galaxy Unmanned Systems LLC’s continued investments and advancements build on their existing lead in the sector and represent an ongoing commitment to developing innovative capabilities for lighter-than-air drone technology. This new facility fits the bill and affords the GUS LLC team and partners the room and infrastructure needed to create those innovative LTA system capabilities and maximize the support for projects with the DoD, legacy vendors, and other commercial clients around the globe.
