Scott signs drones bill into law

TALLAHASSEE — Florida Gov. Rick Scott signed into law Thursday regulations on the use of drones by law enforcement, making Florida among the first states to regulate the unmanned aircraft.
“I believe the real need for this is we want our own privacy, we believe in the fourth amendment,” Scott said.
The measure allows law-enforcement to launch unmanned, quiet, camera-carrying surveillance drones only if they obtain a warrant from a judge, if a person’s life or property is believed to be in imminent danger, or if the Department of Homeland Security has declared a terrorist threat.
