Tried and True: AVSS Completes ASTM F3322 Testing for Drone Parachute for DJI Matrice 4 Series

The AVSS – Aerial Vehicle Safety Solutions (AVSS) team has completed another perfect ASTM F3322 compliance test; the gold standard for drone parachute testing.
On May 9th, AVSS completed the ASTM F3322-24a testing requirements (49 tests) for the DJI Matrice 4 Series with the PRS-M4S.
The PRS-M4S is built on the reliable hardware and software architecture of the previous PRS-M3E and PRS-M3DT product lines with aerospace and automotive grade quality.
With this recent testing campaign, AVSS has now completed the most ASTM F3322 compliance testing for the DJI enterprise products, which include compliant parachutes for the DJI M300/M350, M3D/TD for Dock 2, M3E, M30, and M200. Later this month, AVSS will complete the compliance testing for the PRS-M4DT for the DJI M4D/M4TD, which are used as a standalone kit and/or for the Dock 3.
Later this month, the PRS-M4S will be listed on the Federal Aviation Administration Declaration of Compliance list for Category 2, flight over people operations, along with Transport Canada Over People List. Then, the system will be listed for C5 approval by the European Union Aviation Safety Agency. For those wondering, the system will also provide regulatory compliance for those countries that apply JARUS-M2 mitigation, such as the Civil Aviation Safety Authority and the Civil Aviation Authority of New Zealand.
AVSS is now taking new orders for their PRS-M4S, which has a $1,700 USD MSRP and includes the compliance paperwork, Automatic Triggering System (ATS), Manual Triggering Device (MTD), an internal battery with top-up battery charging from the drone for unlimited flight time, and a rugged Nanuk case.
For USA customers, this product is CUSMA-compliant and tariff-exempt under the current US administration policy (May 9th, 2025). Please note that AVSS has the necessary shipping paperwork; however, tariff policies could change at a future date without notification.
The new orders for the PRS-M4S will be delivered to customers starting in June 2025.

ABOUT ASTM F3322-24a
The ASTM F3322 parachute recovery system testing standard was developed by industry stakeholders as well as representatives from the FAA in late 2018 after more than a year of work. The ASTM F3322-24a version is a revised version published in December 2024 and increased the number of tests from 45 to 49. The completion of the ASTM F3322-24a testing with a third-party organization, along with the required engineering analysis, has also been acknowledged by numerous regulators worldwide as a key third-party validated test to enable commercial drones to fly over people.
