About The Role Wing is looking for a Head of European and UK Government Affairs to join our Global Policy, Regulatory and Community Affairs team based in Europe . You will be responsible for developing and maintaining Wing’s European government and community affairs strategy, developing and maintaining relationships with government officials at all levels and overseeing our relationships with the communities where we operate. You will also advise our internal teams on relevant political and policy developments in Europe. This role requires excellent communication skills and an ability to set strategic direction while maintaining attention to detail. In addition, a proactive mindset and a get-things-done attitude will be critical for your success. Ideal candidates have a passion for aviation and technology.
What You’ll Do
- Develop and implement Wing’s European government and community affairs strategy in close coordination with the Head of Global Policy, Regulatory and Community Affairs and other team leads
- Work in close coordination with Wing’s Business, UTM, Flight operations and Regulatory Affairs teams to support Wing’s operations and expansion in Europe
- Develop and maintain relationships with government stakeholders in Brussels, Cologne, UK and across European member states
- Work closely with industry partners, non-profit groups and other allies to promote and build support for policy positions that facilitate a healthy long term policy framework for UAS in Europe and the UK
- Engage with local governments and communities to introduce drone delivery in a collaborative way
- Manage the resources required to achieve Wing’s government and community affairs goals in the Europe/UK including: budget, trade association and consultant management
- Work closely with your colleagues on the global regulatory and UTM teams to ensure Wing’s advocacy is closely aligned with aviation objectives
What You’ll Need
- 10+ years working in government or government affairs roles
- Demonstrated ability to understand the business implications of public policy
- Demonstrated experience getting things accomplished either in government or with government stakeholders
- Team player with a sense of humor and the ability to exercise good judgment in a rapidly changing and sometimes stressful environment
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills; experience presenting in small and large forums, both public and private
- High degree of integrity
- Ability to travel internationally
- BA/BS degree or equivalent practical experience
