Independent C-UAS Test House puts UAS Specialist at the helm.
Nexus Nine are pleased to announce that Mick Davidson has been appointed new
operations Director and CEO of the company. An experienced UAS Operator and Team
Leader, Mick has succeeded Lee Mansell and assumes his responsibilities with
immediate effect following a successful Handover. Lee leaves Nexus Nine after an
outstanding term, navigating the company through the challenges of the COVID era and he notes that, upon his departure, the natural forward direction of the company was more suited to someone with a more UAS operations focused background.
Mick has been working with UA systems for over 20 years. An engineer that developed a love for all things uncrewed. Having served in the Royal Navy, British Army and developed many other skills since finally leaving the Forces in 2013, Mick brings an outstanding and varied skillset to the leadership team.
Paul Kennard, Nexus Nine Non-Executive Director said of the appointment “The Board
are delighted to have secured such a renowned UAS professional as Mick to carry
forward the excellent work that Lee Mansell has set in train over the past 12 months.
As the world emerges from the challenges of the Covid-19 Pandemic, we are convinced that Mick’s unique skill set and perspective will help to further broaden the company’s portfolio and allow us to exploit opportunities across the UAS Industry. It is also entirely appropriate, at this time, to thank Lee Mansell for steering the company so well through the commercial uncertainties of the Pandemic. We wish him the best of luck in his future endeavours.”
During previous work Mick has achieved 4000+hrs on various system types/class and
covered roles from Image Analyst, Remote Pilot, Training, Safety & Flight Operations
Manager, having also worked with Counter UAS across the Caribbean and United
States and assisting in the stand up of a UAS Flight Test Instructor course in Canada
with the International Test Pilot School (ITPS).
Mick also served as a UAS Inspector with the UK CAA before working with Wingcopter GmbH and assisting alignment with worldwide regulations.
“We expect Mick to use his vast experience in UAS operations, and knowledge of the
regulatory and certification process that underpin them, to fully exploit Nexus Nine’s
a broad range of UAS Permissions, including BVLoS, and highly skilled flying team” said Paul Kennard “which, when coupled with our partnerships with independent test ranges and academia, we believe enables Nexus Nine to offer clear differentiation in the market”
