Drone Safe Register launches Drones for Schools.

Aimed at ages 7 – 11 Key Stage 2 pupils within the England and Wales school systems and P4 to P7 in Scotland, this high-quality educational programme is made available free of charge to schools and satisfies the national curriculum category ‘Design and Technology’. Teachers can use this programme to develop further class tuition after presentation by a DSR member pilot and even enter a national competition to design a new Drone Safety Poster for monitory reward and recognition.

This huge, first of its kind, drone educational programme will be delivered by Drone Safe Register’s network of 500 professional and approved drone pilots direct to 20,000+ target school in the UK. DSR Members have been provided with all the course materials and resources that they need to deliver this informative educational presentation in a school environment. 

This ground-breaking scheme has already received backing from Jessops, Peter Jones CBE and drone manufacturing leader DJI all of whom are sponsoring the programme.

Peter Jones says,

The idea of working with the next generation of drone pilots in the school system is something that I am particularly passionate about, and I look forward to seeing our Drones for Schools programme develop over time to provide the opportunity for school children to learn and develop in this exciting area’

As well as the presentation and accompanying notes, pilots and schools will also receive supporting class worksheets including a short drone knowledge and safety quiz that can lead to a certificate of course completion.

Schools will also be offered the chance to enter an exclusive ‘Design a Drone Safety Poster’ with entries being judged by representatives from DSR, DJI, Jessops and Peter Jones.  In addition, a termly prize of £250 will be awarded to the school of the winning entrant.
