MicroPilot-lead Consortium labelled by ITEA

MicroPilot Inc. led a research consortium that is now labeled by ITEA, providing a springboard to the goal of streamlining the certification process for UAVs.
2016 – Stony Mountain, Manitoba, Canada – MicroPilot is leading a business and research consortium [HI-RISE], consisting of companies across the world involved in the UAV industry. The purpose and goal of this consortium is to research and develop software and processes that will enable Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS) to be certified more quickly and efficiently.
ITEA has now officially approved and labeled the HI-RISE consortium. This is a significant milestone because ITEA gives the consortium access to funding and additional partners that can help the consortium achieve its goals. “ITEA is very selective”, says Howard Loewen, President of MicroPilot, “A lot of applicants don’t make the cut; so we are honored to be be labeled.”
ITEA is the cluster program of the EUREKA Network, a publically funded intergovernmental network whose aim is to foster innovation-driven entrepreneurship in Europe. ITEA typically focuses on software and aims to encourage companies, both large and small, to cooperate on projects in order to stimulate research and development; innovation, and industrial development.
HI-RISE will use the additional support and resources of ITEA to further its goals to improve the regulatory and certification framework for UAVs; thereby, reducing the cost and time needed to certify a UAV.
