SEATTLE — A survey company has come forward to apologize to a Seattle resident who was spooked when she noticed their drone hovering outside her window Sunday morning.

Lisa Pleiss told KOMO News Mondayshe felt violated when she saw the drone — with a camera — hovering outside her 26th floor apartment.

Turns out, the drone belongs to Portland-based Skyris Imaging. When the company’s owner heard about the story, he called Seattle police and then contacted the woman via Facebook to apologize.

The owner says they were using the drone to conduct a view study for a 20-story office tower planned on Stewart Street — not too far from the woman’s apartment. He says the study is aimed at showing a prospective buyer what the view would look like from the property.

The drone went up to 120 feet and 300 feet and was only there for about 15 minutes, the owner said.

He said he felt terrible Pleiss was alarmed and plans to send her prints of their photographs.

Seattle police say they’re still investigating, but right now they don’t believe the company broke any laws.
