K2 Unmanned Systems Provides UAV Training to SAR Teams at SAREX 2016

With the increase of UAV integration in Public Safety and First Responder applications and with FAA Part 107 Small UAS Rule now in effect, K2 Unmanned Systems was proud to provide UAV SAR training to the allied agency first responders in the Central Valley, CA, at SAREX 2016. SAREX 2016 was hosted by the Fresno County Sheriff’s Office, in partnership with Cal-OES, at Hume Lake Christian Camp.

K2 Unmanned is home to a Drone Training Academy providing FAA Part 107 Remote Pilot ground school instruction as well as field flight training. K2 trains personnel to operate custom built drones, designed for their unique operation through either the on-site Academy or online training programs.

At SAREX 2016, K2 Unmanned FAA Certified trainers and pilots gave classroom instruction and in-field demonstration on how to integrate UAVs to SAR operations. Among several training points, SAR units learned how to reduce the cost of aerial operations with UAVs, increase probability of subject detection and how to become more efficient in saving lives with unmanned aerial capabilities.

The K2 Unmanned Aerospace Engineering team offers custom designed drones to specifically assist in First Responder and SAR operations with: Zoom HD video cameras, FLIR thermal imaging sensors, payload delivery of emergency supplies, backpack-deployable and waterproof units.
