The Role
We have an exciting opportunity available for a Spectrum Policy Specialist within our Airspace, Air Traffic Management & Aerodromes (AAA) Division. This position is responsible for ensuring international coordination of radio spectrum management and focusses on the development of new requirements for radio spectrum allocations. This is achieved through influencing international and national positions for discussion in international forums such as the ITU and ICAO. The position also provides advice and support to the wider organisation concerning radio spectrum issues and works with other regulators and external organisations, such as OFCOM and the MoD.
About You
This position requires in-depth specialist knowledge of radio engineering, radio spectrum management techniques and extensive understanding of the aeronautical industry in order to achieve the prime objective of the role which is to ensure a safe, efficient and sustainable aeronautical radio spectrum environment. You will have an awareness of current and future UK, regional and global aeronautical strategies that require the availability of adequate and suitable spectrum. In addition to the specialist technical abilities, this position requires a high level of diplomacy and negotiating skills in order to achieve acceptable outcomes for UK aviation often in the face of strongly conflicting requirements for spectrum on a national, regional or global basis. The ability to think laterally to derive solutions based upon knowledge and experience is important. You will be a collaborative colleague, with the ability to articulate technically complex topics to a diverse range of audiences.

Additional Information
For many appointments within the CAA, these roles require access to operationally sensitive infrastructure and/or Nationally Protected information. For these roles the post holders must undergo National Security Vetting and achieve the appropriate level of clearance.
To be vetted we will usually expect a reasonable period of residency in the UK so that meaningful checks can be undertaken.
