High Lander to Provide UTM Services to AIR ONE, the World’s First eVTOL for Personal Piloting

AIR, a provider of electric take-off and landing aircraft (eVTOL) for personal piloting, has announced that its aerial vehicles will fly under the airspace coverage of High Lander, a leading provider of drone
management and uncrewed traffic management software.

High Lander’s Universal UTM will provide flight plan approvals and adjustments, real-time flight monitoring and in-flight conflict warnings to AIR’s eVTOLs, ensuring that the aerial vehicles and their pilots comply with aviation regulations and avoid conflict with other crewed and uncrewed aircraft, geographical obstructions, and NFZs. AIR ONE, AIR’s first eVTOL to market, successfully executed its first UTM-integrated flight at the May 2023 iteration of the Israel National Drone Initiative.

As the use of uncrewed aerial vehicles proliferates worldwide, the advanced air mobility sector has mainly focused on developing air taxi services. AIR ONE stands out because it is intended for private ownership and use, allowing consumers to enjoy flight as a viable means of day-to-day, short-distance travel. The aerial vehicle was unveiled in October 2021 and received its airworthiness certification in July 2022, whereupon it completed its first public hover test. The sleekly designed AIR ONE can fly for an hour on a
single charge and can carry two people and their luggage (to a maximum weight of 250kg). The aerial vehicle can take off and land on any flat surface, and when folded can fit in spaces designed for moderately sized cars.

“We expect AIR ONE to become the flagship of a new age of personal transportation, and therefore we consider safety and compliance to be of the utmost importance,” said Rani Plaut, CEO and co-founder of AIR. “By taking advantage of the scalable and comprehensive air traffic coverage of High Lander’s tried-and-tested UTM system, we feel confident that AIR ONE will overcome its last regulatory hurdles and begin to show people around the world that piloting a personal aerial vehicle is as safe and reliable as it is
easy and exciting.”

High Lander’s proprietary UTM solution, Universal UTM, is a drone-agnostic, automated platform that monitors all airborne activity over territories of any size in real-time. It autonomously approves, denies, and suggests alternative flight plans as needed, providing complete airspace coverage for businesses and government authorities. Users of Universal UTM span the globe, with clients including the Israeli national police force and Speedbird Aero, the biggest drone delivery company in Brazil.

“AIR ONE is an impressive feat of engineering and stands to have a dramatic effect on the way people travel. This brings with it regulatory and safety challenges that must be overcome before this new market can take off,” said Alon Abelson, CEO and co-founder of High Lander. “All of these challenges can be overcome with Universal UTM, and we’re proud to be providing the safety network for this groundbreaking product and a whole new generation of pilots.”

About High Lander

High Lander was established in 2018 by aviation and technology experts with a dream: a fully integrated sky where crewed and uncrewed aircraft operate in harmony. They are achieving this with two scalable, drone-agnostic software solutions. The first is Mission Control, a platform for managing and automating drone missions for any purpose, including public safety, deliveries, security, agriculture, and more. The second is Universal UTM, a next-generation automated uncrewed traffic management platform that oversees all airborne activity over any airspace, supplying the infrastructure we need to support the new era of consolidated aviation.
