Russian start up Flyter has won the Start 1 competition in Russia and will now build and test a prototype of the Flyter JR with a take-off weight of up to 30 kg, made using simplified aircraft model technologies. This stage is necessary before creating a pre-production prototype from composite materials.
Work on the design and optimization of the Flyter JR has led us to modify the original scheme.
The Flyter JR1 was planned according to the Flyter PAC VTOL 720-200, in which 8 lifting propeller groups are used, and the airframe is in many ways close to the original aircraft reduced in scale.
As part of the work we have done, we have reduced the area of the bearing surfaces, changed the fuselage, so that the main propeller has become pushing, in addition, the number of lifting propeller groups has been reduced from 8 to 4x. According to our calculations, these measures added about 2 units of aerodynamic quality to the Flyter JR2 and reduced power consumption during the flight by 10%, which in turn allows you to increase the range by about 10%.
Until recently, the Flyter JR was planned only in the electric version, but we have repeatedly received requests from potential customers to increase the range of the drone to 500-600 km.
Therefore, we have worked out a modification with a hybrid power plant in the first
approximation. It is important that the selected power plant uses a reliable and fairly economical four-stroke engine with a resource of about 1000 hours, as well as new high-current li-ion batteries that can operate at low temperatures. Thus, our Flyter JR drone will be able to deliver cargo weighing up to 10 kg to remote and hard-to-reach areas of Russia.
Work continues on the creation of a full-fledged cargo delivery service, including the deployment and maintenance of logistics routes, as well as the client app.
