New Czech Unmanned Aircraft Engine Primoco 500

Czech company Primoco UAV SE, which develops, manufactures and sells the unmanned aircraft, Primoco UAV One 100/150, extends its portfolio with the new self-designed Primoco 500 piston engine. The engine is designed not only for its unmanned aircraft, but also for other aircraft manufacturers.

The Primoco 500 is an air-cooled four-cylinder engine with a power output of 50 HP and a weight of 15 kg. The engine is made of light aluminium alloy and was developed by Primoco UAV SE. The development of the engine took nine months.

“We were initially looking for a more powerful engine for our aircraft. Our current Primoco UAV One 100 uses a 20 HP engine. For our new model, the Primoco UAV One 150, we needed more power. The lack of appropriate engines in the global market led us to develop and produce the engine ourselves. We knew what we required from the engine. The engine combines the necessary performance, reliability and long service life while maintaining compact dimensions and excellent weight,” comments Ladislav Semetkovský, CEO.

Several manufacturers of experimental and unmanned aircraft have already shown interest in the engine. The company will start offering the engine to customers in the fourth quarter of 2017. The estimated production is 50 – 100 pieces a year.
