We are a small group of inventors, engineers and of course, drone enthusiasts.

Micro Drone 3.0 a great product but also it is a platform continuously evolves with pipeline of ideas to create new functionality through modules, be that serious stuff like a smart module for monitoring air quality, night vision camera or fun modules such as a nerf gun shooter, we have the engineering experience and know how to develop new and exciting modules which snap on to the Drone. This is just the beginning and we can’t wait to see what you all comes up with!

Why Crowdfunding

What started as a personal passion, Micro Drone has evolved into a product that has developed so much from it’s users. With Micro Drone 3.0 finally here, the exciting thing about the coming months and years is building on the platform and furthering the technology. We can’t wait to see what we accomplish together. Since Vernon first demonstrated Micro Drone 2.0 at Techcrunch Disrupt NY in 2013, we realised that building great technology is within our collective reach. We have the ability to hire top engineers for product development all over the world, so we also want to share our plans and allow users to be part of the process. You get to be involved with other users who believe in us and share our vision. You have really inspired us and we have learnt so much about advanced technologies, from rotor theory, electronics and industrial design. We micro-sized it and applied this to Micro Drone 3.0 to create highly desirable sophisticated features. We then tweaked and perfected the concepts, building countless prototypes to make it consumer friendly and bringing together the best ideas to create the next model.

We want you to be the first to get your hands on Micro Drone 3.0 and we want you to share your feedback and comments. With your help, we will be able to finalise tooling to go into production.

Risks and Challenges

Having worked on Micro Drone since 2011 and successfully produced two models, we have complete confidence in the delivery of this product. Combining all the experience, feedback and tacit knowledge and working alongside industry veterans, we have focused on the small things that matter, checking off each step in meticulous detail. We have touched every part of the process from the industrial design (from the way magnets seamlessly attach the modules) to securing reliable production partners who can build Micro Drone at scale. Taken together we believe we will be able to not just deliver the best small size Drone to date, but one which is also user friendly.

Having seen other crowd funding campaigns, we understand the issues hardware makers face. Micro Drone 3.0 has undergone extensive testing and we have a working product which will be ready to start production after the campaign has finished. We have provided a conservative shipping date of November and we will update backers as this progresses. Our key component suppliers (PCB production, Battery production and Injection moulding) can typically work within a 3-4 month turnaround and we have a great relationship working directly with each supplier who have scheduled production time for Micro Drone 3.0 to fulfill initial demand from Indiegogo.

We are excited that Micro Drone 3.0 is finally at the stage where we can offer it to users who share our vision. We want to build a community of users and one of the challenges is to build an ecosystem that rewards and incentivises our users. Once the first units of Micro Drone 3.0 are in the hands of our backers, we will be making a sustained ongoing effort to work with developers to create new modules and come up the best things for a small personal drone – this is a super important initiative for us. To do this we’re going to build a pool of talent, provide design mentorship and give developers calls to action with special events. We will also provide ways for developers to get real rewards for developing third party modules. So, if you are an independent maker you will become a really important part of what we are doing and if you are a user, you will have a Drone that continuously evolves with new, exciting and compelling ways to use it.
