Lt. Gov. Wrigley, UND to announce new UAV training program

Lt. Gov. Drew Wrigley, along with University of North Dakota, will announce on Thursday a first-of-its-kind training program for future pilots of unmanned aircraft systems. The news conference will be held Thursday, Oct. 10, 1 p.m. at UND’s Clifford Hall.

Wrigley, UND President Robert Kelley and Bruce Smith, dean of the UND John D. Odegard School of Aerospace Sciences, will provide information about the UAS flight training program and how it will support the state’s overarching strategy to enhance its UAS industry. Col. Robert Becklund, director of the Northern Plains Unmanned Aircraft Systems Authority, also will attend the news conference and be available for questions.
