Perth startup gets airborne with Civil Aviation Safety Authority

Previously the exclusive domain of the military, unmanned aerial vehicles (“UAVs” or “Drones”) have gained in popularity and are being applied in a growing number of civilian and commercial uses around the world as well as here in Australia.

With the increased proliferation of UAVs the Australia Federal Government took the pro-active step of introducing regulations requiring that all UAV pilots and businesses that operate their drones for commercial benefit be certified by CASA.

Chief UAV Controller and founder of COPTERCAM, Mr. Hai Tran said: “After observing a number of illegal operators flying their drones with disregard to public safety and privacy, we share the concerns raised by civil liberties group.  We support the regulation of the industry and in particular the safe and responsible use of Drones. We have worked with CASA to receive our certification and established a number of operating safety protocols. All our pilots have undergone aviation security screening and fully licenced by CASA. Initially we are focusing on the provision of high resolution, residential real estate photography services. Our specially designed aircraft are fitted with 24 megapixel digital SLR cameras that take amazing photos and full HD videos.  We are very proud to use the Droidworx airframe and Photohigher camera gimbals because of their quality and reliability”.
