  • ·         Integrates with all DJI platforms, including the newly released eight-rotor S1000

HANOVER, March 17, 2014 – DJI, a global leader in aerial photography and cinematographers platforms, today announced the launch of Lightbridge, DJI’s first video downlink system capable of streaming HD video in real time.

The Lightbridge transmits images at a range up to 1.7 kilometres, allowing photographers and cinematographers operating flying cameras to see 1920×1080 video from their camera with almost no latency.

Images can be viewed either through traditional production video monitors or through their smartphones via the Lightbridge app available for iOS and Android.

“Before the Lightbridge, transmitting images remotely meant either a significantly delayed feed or low resolution images – both of which make it difficult to capture the perfect shot,” said DJI CEO Frank Wang. “With the Lightbridge, we wanted to complete our set of products for creators who want stable, clear and perfectly framed images from the sky.”

With HDMI and AV inputs, the Lightbridge works with cameras ranging from professional DSLRs to action cameras. The system also integrates with DJI’s full range of flying platforms.

DJI also announced the official release of its long-anticipated eight-rotor Spreading Wings S1000 (‘S1000) platform, which can carry professional DSLR cameras, including the Canon 5D Mark III.

“With the S1000 and the Lightbridge together, professional photographers and videographers have the perfect solution for creating amazing images from the sky,” said Mr Wang.

The Lightbridge is available for MSRP US$1,599 while the S1000 is available for up to US$6,560. For a list of international dealers carrying these products please visit DJI.com.
