The Rotor X Aircraft Manufacturing Company of Chandler Arizona, announces that the DRAGON Personal Air Vehicle (PAV)

Introducing the new fully electric DRAGON Personal Air Vehicle (PAV) from Rotor X Aircraft Manufacturing Company. This electric ultralight aircraft comes as a quick-build kit and doesn’t require a pilot’s license in the U.S. to operate. Rotor X plans to have the DRAGON PAV in full production before the end of the year and it is priced at just under $90k.

After over a year of testing, Rotor X Aircraft is ready to publicly display the DRAGON PAV this summer in Oshkosh for EAA’s AirVenture 2023. Testing and improvements of the DRAGON are ongoing and manned-flight videos are planned to be released in June 2023.

The DRAGON PAV will have a 250 lb (113 kg) pilot capacity, can fly for 20 minutes, and recharge in less than 2 hours. Safety features include helicopter safety landing gear, ballistic chute safety cage, redundant independent motors, power system with independent batteries controlled by a redundant flight controller, automatic takeoff and landing, hands-off return to hover and position hold. The DRAGON PAV can hover with a 250-pound pilot and continue to a safe landing after a battery, electrical, or motor failure.

Rotor X is accepting deposits for the DRAGON PAV at Dragon Personal Air Vehicle – Dragon (rotorxdragon.com). No pilot’s license is required in the USA since the aircraft meets the Ultralight requirements under the FAA Part 103 regulation.

The image shown was taken on Friday April 21, 2023 during testing of one of the DRAGON PAV pre-production prototypes. The ballistic chute safety cage is not shown and will be integrated to the flight test vehicles before manned flight begins.

DRAGON PAV testing is ongoing with manned flights expected before mid-June.

The Rotor X Aircraft Manufacturing Company, located in Chandler Arizona, is the world leader in the production of affordable 2-seat helicopter kits, and their decades of aircraft manufacturing experience are being leveraged in the design and production of the DRAGON PAV.
