Ukrainian app lets citizens report drones and cruise missiles

Currently shipping on Android only with iOS in the work Ukraine has started rolling out an app that allows citizens to report sightings of drones, cruise missiles and anything else they might see flying overhead.

You can find it here at the play store

You will not be able to use it though as you require approval through the Diia platform the app was built by the Technari Design Group, in conjunction with the South Air Force.

It is hoped it will help fill in gaps in low-level radar coverage.

The sky… the clear blue Ukrainian peaceful sky, created for the pleasure of looking, for the free flight of birds, for the rainbow after the rain, for thunder and wind, for the bright sun. Free Ukrainian transparent blue sky with white clouds, in which only birds and civilian planes should fly. Our sky is not made for war. Our Ukrainian sky is the expanse of the Ukrainian soul!

Since February, someone has thought of interfering in our lives. It is barbaric to come and use our sky to destroy our land, our life.

We Ukrainians have had courage, faith and strength since ancient times. We have always defended our freedom. It’s time to unite again, to prove again that we are strong and free. Again at a great price. We have such an opportunity. We are able to help.

This reminds me very much of the Royal Observer Corps who detected German aircraft on their way to targets in England and telephoned in their details to command centres.
