Santa Barbara, CA (September 30, 2020) – Cardno, an international professional infrastructure and environmental services firm, has built and is continuing to refine an organic unmanned aviation program for the U.S. Marine Corps Air Ground Combat Center (MCAGCC) at Twentynine Palms, the world’s largest USMC training and testing range.
This included developing the installation infrastructure, safety management system, and operational regulatory framework to support routine Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS) flight operations in conjunction with and in support of large-scale training events. As part of this program’s development/management contract, Cardno created all of the unmanned aviation pilot training curricula for MCAGCC. The full program is compliant with both the Federal Aviation Administration and the Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR).
The program is currently focused on application engineering, including the identification of capability gaps, aerial surveying and mapping, and the development of professional video messaging productions using aerial and ground footage from the project. One example includes this video that was developed for use as an opening message for Combat Center staff presentations.
