Heliguy DJI Mavic 2 Drone Cage Available For Pre-order

UK drone specialist Heliguy has unveiled a bespoke DJI Mavic 2 drone cage, which is now available to pre-order and offers a lightweight and collision-proof solution ideal for internal inspection and enhanced flight safety.

Designed and built by Heliguy’s expert in-house research and development team, this new robust product will maximise data collection and missions in hostile environments, confined areas, and hard-to-reach spaces.

Priced at £499, this cage is an affordable entry to the internal inspection and caged-drone markets.

The protective frame is compact and easily transportable, affords up to 15 minutes of flight time, weighs 200g, and offers an unobscured camera view. This out-of-the-box cage can be attached and removed quickly and easily – perfect for rapid deployment.

Made from carbon fibre, aluminium, and nylon, the cage is collision-proof, with an impact resistance of up to 3m per second.

The development of the cage has been prompted by feedback from Heliguy customers, who have been crying out for an affordable solution for the popular Mavic 2 drones.

Because it is compatible with the DJI Mavic 2 Series, the cage offers versatility for a range of jobs; whether it is utilising the 20MP camera on the Mavic 2 Pro, capturing visible and thermal imagery with the Mavic 2 Enterprise Dual, or using the zoom camera on either the Mavic 2 Enterprise or Mavic 2 Zoom.

Integrating one of the Mavic 2 Enterprise drones with the cage also means that you can take advantage of the accessories. Options available are the dual spotlight, ideal for illuminating dark areas during an internal inspection; the beacon, which offers a visual warning during jobs; and the loud-speaker, which can be used to communicate with others during a flight.

The cage has already been tested by a number of Heliguy’s technology partners and received positive feedback. Now, the first batch has been sent out to major enterprise clients across a range of industries – to be used on critical infrastructure, internal inspection, and surveying jobs.

Heliguy’s Product Designer Ross Embleton, who has made the cage, said: “Cages are becoming an incredibly important drone accessory, helping to increase flight safety and drone protection.

“A caged drone is also an important tool when it comes to remote visual inspection, asset maintenance and high ropes work – increasing workers’ safety, reducing asset downtime, lowering the cost of operations, reaching inaccessible places and helping to get up close and personal to objects in a safe and controlled way.

“Here at Heliguy, we have listened to what our customers want and the majority of them said that they want some sort of affordable collision-proof cage for the Mavic 2; a drone series which is reliable, popular, lightweight and small enough to carry out internal inspections.

“Thanks to the versatility of the Mavic 2 Series, the cage can be utilised in numerous ways, including being a thermal solution with the Mavic 2 Enterprise Dual or they can zoom in on certain objects with the Mavic 2 Enterprise or Mavic 2 Zoom.

“The cage could also be used by videographers who are flying the Mavic 2 Pro to capture some truly great shots. It means that it can be an indoor drone cage, or taken and used outside.

“I am really excited about this product because it opens new doors for enterprise users. It allows them to operate safely – especially in confined areas – and the fact that the drone’s camera is unobstructed by the camera means that they can get the same data as before but with greater protection.

“Our drone containment cage is robust, compact, allows users to capture reliable data in the
safest way, and utilises sophisticated DJI technology – all while being an affordable and cost-effective solution.”
