Planck Aerosystems wins defense innovation program grand prize pitch

Planck Aerosystems (Planck Aero), a San Diego based aerospace technology company that specializes in next-generation Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS) autonomy and computer vision, announced today they have won the Defense Innovation Voucher Program (DIV) Grand Prize Pitch.

Planck Aero was awarded a $25,000 voucher as part of its participation in the inaugural pilot program managed by the San Diego Regional Economic Development Corporation. The DIV program is primarily funded through Propel San Diego, a grant award provided to the City of San Diego from the Department of Defense’s Office of Economic Adjustment. Additional programmatic funding for DIV is provided by Booz Allen Hamilton, the presenting sponsor.

“We’re thrilled to be recognized by the defense innovation community. The DIV program has helped Planck advance its position and prepare for rapid growth. There were a lot of deserving companies, including all the finalists. It’s impressive what is happening in San Diego and we’re proud to be part of the first DIV cohort. Huge thanks to Propel, San Diego Regional EDC, Booz Allen Hamilton, and the entire San Diego defense innovation community,” said Dave Twining, COO and Co-Founder, Planck Aero.

Launched in 2018 to help small and mid-sized defense companies scale in San Diego, the DIV Program worked directly with 15 local defense companies. As one of the 15 companies, Planck Aero participated
in strategic boot camps and business consulting services via an initial $15,000 grant to aid in strengthening and expanding company operations.
Five DIV companies were chosen to participate in the DIV Grand Prize Pitch, based on their goals, accomplishments and overall involvement in the program. The finalists included EpiSys Science, Fuse Integration, GET Engineering Corporation and Trabus Technologies. Planck Aero was selected as the winner by a live voting audience and a panel of judges.
