Sky Flight Robotics & Quantum Systems unveil the Trinity Unmanned aircraft at “Space Coast Drone Test Center”

Sky Flight Robotics and Quantum Systems arrived in Florida Friday, February 2nd to conduct training and customer demos of the new Quantum Systems Trinity vertical take-off and landing unmanned fixed-wing aircraft. This is the first of its kind to enter into North America drone market. We had hotel accommodations at the Holiday Inn Express on Malabar Road. The hotel was located perfectly for those attending the event that were from out of town.

The hotel Manager Puneet Kapur presented us with outstanding hospitality. The hotel is top notch and the complimentary breakfast provided in the morning is absolutely wonderful. Thank you PK!! Training and demos where scheduled to take place at the “Space Coast Drone Test Center” at Valkaria Airport X59 located in Brevard County, FL. The airport is managed by Steve Borowski. The airport is in a perfect location along the coast of the Intracoastal Waterway and the air space is class G making this airport the perfect location for unmanned aircraft operations. We were greeted by Steve, who delivered the upmost hospitality you could expect from any airport manager. It’s nice to see a government official totally embracing the future of aviation and new technology.

We met with Steve and Chris Larsen of “Space Coast Drone Test Center” the driving force behind the SCDTC incentive and discussed and planned all the necessary items needed to conduct the flight training and customer demonstrations at the proposed location in a way that is safe and conforming to the current FAA regulations. Everything was handled in a professional manner, as one would expect, from the group of life long aviators. The test area was established, and the airspace was depicted including a NOTAM that was broadcasted to all local air traffic that would be operating at the airport throughout our activity. We started our training on Saturday, February 3rd with Martin Herkommer from Quantum systems. Martin is a pure pleasure to work with and his knowledge of geospatial mapping is outstanding! THANK YOU MARTIN!!

The training site was constructed by SCDTC and included a beautiful mobile operations trailer that was air-conditioned and equipped with full electrical power, work benches, and seating for pre-flight planning and ground control training. On the outside of the drone pilot “dream trailer” was 1,200 square feet of awnings that provided more shelter from any elements. Each area was set up for its specific purpose. One side of the trailer was set up with tables, chairs, food table and refreshment cooler for customers and guest. The other side was set up for observation of flights and the ground control station. The complete layout was first class and proved to be the perfect place to conduct our type of business.

We conducted flights from February 3rd through February 8th, training both the Sky Flight Robotics team and our customers from Brazil. On February 7th, we had an open house which included conducting flight demos to a select list of guests from local businesses, universities, and government officials.

The Trinity performed perfectly every flight. We flew two Trinities side by side in a formation flight demo. Winds were at the upper range of the Trinity envelope around 6-7 meters a second with peak gusts up to 12-14 meters a second. The Trinity performed perfectly.

We also mapped the complete airport boundaries for the county while we were accomplishing testing of the Trinity. It was able to map the airport from property lines on all four corners and do it safely and efficiently all within around 45 minutes. I would like to thank everyone that attended this event. If you are looking for a place to bring your UAV customers and resellers, have a customer demo, or training pilots on a new UAV system this is the place to do it. I would like to thank the following for helping make this a great event:
