Foxtech Nimbus VTOL

Foxtech Nimbus VTOL

In the age of the SLT a vectored thrust market entry from Foxtech. Only one motor becomes a passenger when in forward flight. Also much less in the way of a framework for the quad motor setup normally seen in an SLT.

I think this one will be popular, the buzz is already buzzing. It’s hard to know when to jump in with new mapping drone airframes, designs change every six months it seems.

Well done again to Philip Rowse and Michael Oborne the Cube and Mission Planner with Ardupilot firmware are the default choice. #ArdupilotFTW

Nimbus VTOL is a modified version of original Nimbus 1800mm FPV plane. By adding additional tail motor and digital tilting servos, the modified version, Nimbus VTOL is becoming a Tri-copter VTOL with vector Yaw.

Nimbus 1800 VTOL features quick assembly and disassembly modular design. It is extremely convenient to disassemble and carry. The wing and the head cover are connected by double hooks, so it is very convenient to use. The carbon tube has been extended to three-quarters of the wing, which can provide a great wing strength. And the battery compartment is big enough to hold one 6S 10000mAh lipo battery, and the max flight time is up to 50 minutes.

Modifications and improvements:

-The Nimbus VTOL can now take off and land vertically like a multicopter.
-The Nimbus VTOL can fly fast as a fixed wing, while it’s doing so, the tail motor stop spinning. The max speed is beyond 25m/s.
-The Nimbus VTOL can go waypoints & click-go automatically in either fixed wing or multicopter mode.
-No launching rail or parachute needed, launching directly from an area as small as 3x3m
-The Nimbus VTOL can now load a camera and do mapping jobs by designing in the ground station.
-In case there is any failure on ailerons, elevators, Nimbus VTOL can switch to multicopter  mode to save the plane.
-By setting the suitable flying modes, you can command the Nimbus VTOL to fly in anyway you want, even acrobatics in the air.
