Heroes Dutch Comic Con to Host the Utrecht Internationals  for the 2018 Drone Racing Series

The International Drone Racing Association (IDRA) has announced a new partnership with Heroes Dutch Comic Con for the 2018 Drone Racing Series. The IDRA will hold the first race of the professional series at the Jaarbeurs in Utrecht, Netherlands, during Heroes Dutch Comic Con on March 31st & April 1, 2018. Tickets will be available for sale through Heroes Dutch Comic Con Box Office.

The race will feature several of the top teams in the world as they race head-to- head to earn valuable points toward the 2018 Drone Racing Series rankings. At the conclusion of the series, the team with the most series points will win the world championship. A partnership with Heroes Dutch Comic Con provides IDRA an opportunity to showcase the sport to a new and larger audience, composed of comic; science fiction lovers, cosplay goers, and e-gamers.

The 2018 Drone Racing Series is a professional series of three international races, formatted on team racing. The series begins in Utrecht, Netherlands and will conclude with the IDRA Finals in Dover, Delaware, United States at the Dover International Speedway, in conjunction with the NASCAR tripleheader. Teams compete for the IDRA Drone Racing Series World Championship on the basis of total points earned at IDRA international events, including the IDRA Finals.

UAS/Drone racing is a worldwide sport that utilizes Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) and Virtual Reality (VR) technology to allow a new breed of innovators to compete on the international stage. There are roughly 100 drone competitions in the U.S. annually and 200 worldwide competitions, highlighted by races like IDRA’s 2016 World Drone Prix in Dubai and 2017 Dover Internationals at the Dover International Speedway with NASCAR.
