DJI Phantom 3 SE | Last of the Phantom 3 Range

This week, DJI announced availability of the last model in their Phantom 3 range, the DJI Phantom 3 SE, retailing for $599 in the United States.

According to DJI: “The Phantom 3 SE features several improvements over its predecessor, the Phantom 3 Standard, including the ability to record 4K ultra high-definition video, and a Vision Positioning System for precise navigation and flight stability. It also has an improved dual-band Wi-Fi remote control with a transmission range of up to 2.5 miles delivering over four times the range of the Phantom 3 Standard.”

Relative to the Phantom 3 Pro, the P3SE specs show only a few minor improvements in overall weight and camera specs as well as a 2 minute flight time improvement.

If it weren’t for certain DJI company policies and DJI data security issues, this kit, along with most of DJI’s consumer drone range would likely still be on sUAS News’ list of recommended UAS, alas.

CIO, sUAS News | "My interest in UAS began in 2006 in the Masai Mara, Kenya where I was working as a bush pilot and met Gary Mortimer. I have always loved computers, maps, aerial photos and any kind of flying thing so the UAS addiction quickly took hold. Since then my interest in these technologies has grown from just an interest to building and flying small UAS as well as getting involved with sUAS News."
