CONDOR-Group invests into Berlin-based drone manufacturer Germandrones
Germandrones aims to strengthen its market position with the support of CONDOR-Group.
Berlin & Essen, 15th August 2017 – The security company CONDOR-group from Essen acquires a participation in Germandrones GmbH, a leading manufacturer for vertical take-off and landing (VTOL) aircraft drones. The transaction is carried out in form of a capital increase, which is subscribed by CONDOR-Group as well as the Germandrones management team and which will provide substantial financing for the ongoing expansion of the company. The investment is an expansion of the two companies’ existing cooperation.
“Drones are playing an ever more important role in many of our services. We use them for inspection and protection tasks and offer education, training, maintenance and leasing”, says Cornelius Toussaint, CEO of CONDOR-Group. “For many applications, the use of Germandrones’aircraft-like Songbird drones will mean a considerable leap in efficiency compared to today’s multicopter drones.
The Songbird’s reach of up to 100 km and flight times of over an hour offer considerable potential for surveying and mapping as well as for monitoring of power lines and railway tracks. At the same time, their innovative VTOL technology allows for take-off and landing on the smallest areas.” Germandrones Chief Technology Officer Nicolas Brieger concurs and sees considerable benefits in the cooperation: “We expect high-quality feedback for our product and service development processes in order to expand our market leadership.”

Both parties have agreed not to disclose the terms of the transaction.
