Edgybees Launches World’s First Augmented Reality Game for DJI Drone Pilots on AR Smart Glasses at AWE 2017
Edgybees, an augmented reality technology company, today announced the first-ever AR gaming application for DJI drone pilots using the Epson Moverio BT-300 Drone Edition smart glasses.
Downloaded onto the Moverio glasses, the Drone Prix AR app enables pilots to fly their DJI drones through a virtual obstacle course “in the sky” layered on top of a crystal clear, transparent first person view (FPV) of the drone camera feed.
Optimised for use with the top-selling models of DJI drones, the Drone Prix AR game allows users, especially new drone pilots, to master their skills in a fun, safe and immersive way. Collecting prizes and avoiding obstacles along the way, drone pilots can compete over the best performance, points and time for a coveted place in the high-score leaderboard with other drone pilots around the world.
“The Epson Moverio BT-300 Drone Edition smart glasses offer the perfect platform for our Drone Prix AR app, providing an immersive, seamless experience for optimal enjoyment and learning,” said Adam Kaplan, CEO, Edgybees. “The Moverio glasses also allow pilots to maintain a line of sight to their craft as they weave their way through the course.”
Key features of the Drone Prix app include:
- Solo and Competition Modes: Race against the clock to beat your previous score or compete with other users around the world to make it onto the leaderboard.
- Flight Assistant: Track guiding will assist the pilot in the 3D space while they navigate around obstacles to collect coins and prizes.
- Multiple Courses: Featuring over 30 different obstacle courses, with varying difficulties suitable for novice to experienced pilots.
- Social Engagement: Pilots can link their user ID to their Facebook account and share their achievements with top performing pilots appearing on the leaderboard.
“Edgybees has created an amazing new innovation – AR drone gaming on smart glasses – that could only be possible on the Moverio platform,” said Eric Mizufuka, Product Manager, New Ventures, Epson America. “With the Moverio BT-300 Drone Edition, users can avoid having to look down at their smartphones or tablets in bright sunlight, providing convenience, comfort and safety as well as a one-of-a-kind gaming experience.”
The Moverio BT-300 Drone Edition comes pre-loaded with the DJI GO app for use with most DJI hardware. The Drone Edition glasses feature clip-on dark shades for use in bright sunlight as well as special fasteners that secure the Moverio controller onto the DJI phone mount for easy operation.
Edgybees will be demonstrating the Drone Prix app on the Moverio BT-300 during AWE 2017 this week in Las Vegas, May 31-June 2, in the show’s Experience Zone.
