Terra Powerlifter, safety in simplicity

Terra Powerlifter, safety in simplicity

Back to the future, but practical. A super simple system is often best. Japanese company Terra claim a two-hour endurance with a 10kg payload. That is enough to lift a Rigel LiDAR, the miniVux-1UAV weighs just 1.55 kg.

Ok, it is going to be slower covering ground than a photogrammetry flying wing. It will be more wind sensitive. But it should be able to map far more ground eventually.

In addition, the data it would be acquiring would be pretty much ready to go and jolly high resolution. Time burned in capture might be recovered in post-production.

LiDAR will become more of a thing in the sUAS world. How they are flown will be the subject of many compromises. Perhaps the most important of all will be protecting the expensive sensor in a crash.
