CrowdOptic Connects Advanced Drones Capable of Live-Streaming and Directing via Mobile Device Line of Sight to Military Prototype FieldApp™
CrowdOptic, SICdrone, and Suspect Technologies today announced a joint initiative to deliver unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) from SICdrone, powered by CrowdOptic’s live-streaming capabilities and focal clustering analytics, along with facial recognition and obfuscation technology from Suspect Technologies, to clients in the first responder and public safety industries.
Today’s announcement also follows the recent release of FieldApp, CrowdOptic’s public-facing Android app that allows individual citizens to use the same underlying technology being tested by the U.S. Special Operations Command (USSOCOM) to track points of interest for the purpose of surveying, field estimation, and geo-coordination activities. FieldApp was recently selected by SOFWERX, a venue operated under partnership intermediary agreement between Doolittle Institute and USSOCOM, for inclusion in its 1208 Rapid Prototyping Event.

The unmanned aerial vehicles, manufactured by SICdrone and developed in concert with technology from CrowdOptic, were announced earlier this year as part of a drone navigational project.

This solution, which utilizes several CrowdOptic patents (U.S. Patent 8,527,340, U.S. Patent 9,020,832, and U.S. Patent 9,264,474), analyzes location and line-of-sight data from two or more devices, such as drones or mobile phones, to automatically distill their sightlines into a single point of interest—i.e. the focus of a group.
Facial recognition and obfuscation technology as provided by Suspect Technologies will allow agencies to identify certain individuals while respecting the privacy of others and observing existing privacy laws.
