Wild Rabbit Drone Pilots Earn Crucial FAA Part 107 Certification

Wild Rabbit Aerial Productions is proud to announce that they are one of the few “Closed Set Filming” drone companies in the Greater Los Angeles area that is both FAA 333 Exempt and Part 107 compliant! Recently, the Federal Aviation Administration announced that as of today, all Part 107 operators of small-unmanned aircrafts must submit to new pilot and aircraft operating requirements.

Dave Radin, Wild Rabbit’s Managing Director, believes that the recent advent of Part 107 regulations is “a giant win for the film, television, commercial and music video industries.” Previously, the FAA’s stringent guidelines for commercial drone filming were highly restrictive. Now “Part 107 regulations enable drone operators and their clients to fly creatively in geographical areas never before accessible. In addition, Part 107 lifts regulatory burdens off our shoulders and greatly lowers production costs.”

The new Small UAS Rule (Part 107) requires certified drone pilots to obtain a new “Remote Pilot Certificate.” As a Part 107 pilot, there are modified operating rules across the United States:

  • FAA Part 107 Certified Pilots no longer need private property consent within 500’ of the drone flight.
  • FAA Part 107 Certified Pilots no longer require an onerous 500’ safety perimeter and traffic control.
  • FAA Part 107 Certified Pilots may operate closer to many airports than previously allowed.
  • FAA Part 107 Certified Pilots no longer need to file a “Plan of Activities” (POA) with the FAA.
