Airbus Thor at ILA 2016

Airbus Thor at ILA 2016

This is the 3D printed THOR, and I like what that stands for – Test of High-tech Objectives in Reality. It’s the reality bit that grabs me. There are plenty of BS 3D printed airframes out there, more weight than wow, anyhow rant over. THOR is on display for the first time at the ILA Berlin Air Show.

It’s already completed a 40km test flight and a further 18 test flights are planned this year.

Now if only they would open source the files we could all have a go at building one.
