THIS POSITION IS LOCATED IN ST. MARY’S COUNTY

The UAS Pilot supports the UMD UAS Test Site Director of Operations in conductingUAS ground and flight operations in support of university and FAA research requirements. This support includes mission planning, execution, briefing, debriefing, piloting, resource management, maintenance, and safety. The UAS Pilot serves as Pilot-in-Command (PIC) of assigned Unmanned Air Systems (UAS) and may serve as Instructor Pilot providing academic and in-flight instruction to student UASoperators.

Minimum Qualifications: USA Citizenship

Bachelor’s degree in a technical or aviation related discipline

Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance.

3 years’ experience piloting unmanned aircraft. Must possess and maintain a minimum of a FAA Private Pilot rating and Class II FAA pilot medical. Minimum of 200 hours of documented UAS pilot hours in both fixed-wing and rotary-wing systems. Civilian or military aviation maintenance background.

Ability to understand and communicate highly technical information to diverse stakeholder groups.

Applicants must be willing to work a flexible work schedule that may include extended shifts, holidays, and weekends. Travel requirements: up to 15%.

Preferences: Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills as well as oral and written communication skills are desired. Basic computer skills i.e. Excel, Word, Power Point. Proven ability to manage independently competing priorities in a complex and dynamic environment. Ability to lead, train, develop, and motivate others.
