UAVs for environmental protection
Every year, billions of eggs are boiled, painted and hidden. Now the food industry raises concerns. According to latest figures, approximately 20 % of the hidden eggs are never found and go bad. A worldwide cooperation of environmental organizations, the food industry and ministries have ordered thousands of drones to use them with infrared cameras, in order to search fields, roads and backyards for the hidden eggs. Optris, a leading manufacturer of IR cameras for aerial thermography, has been appointed to provide the thermal imaging cameras. “Eggs are of utmost importance to us. Our software now even features an egg search function”, explains Norman Rönz, Spokesman at Optris.
