Jim Williams Joins the Skyward Advisory Board

Former manager of the FAA’s Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) Integration Office to advise drone information management software.

Skyward named Jim Williams, former manager of the FAA’s Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) Integration Office, to its advisory board. Williams brings nearly 30 years of experience in aviation to the board including experience in FAA leadership focusing on integrating drones into the National Airspace System (NAS).

“It is an honor and a privilege to be invited to serve on the Skyward advisory board,” said Jim Williams. “Jonathan and his team have developed a fantastic platform for unmanned aircraft operators. I am thrilled to be able to help bring their drone software and services to users around the world,” continued Williams

Williams is currently a member of Dentons’ Public Policy and Regulation Practice. During his career with the FAA, he spent six years as the Director of Engineering Services in the NextGen Organization, where he led the coordination and integration of all systems engineering work needed to move the NAS toward NextGen. This work gave him a deep understanding of how FAA research progresses into a mature concept and eventually into the many technologies that become operational in the NAS. His office also led the development of the NAS Enterprise Architecture and NAS­level Requirements. Together these gave him a great appreciation for the interrelationships of the many systems which will be touched by the UAS integration effort.
