As a leading provider of UAS trials operations and integration services Callen-Lenz were delighted to be selected as the commercial UAS operator for the UK Government (DSTL) ‘Bristow 15’ counter UAS trials at MOD West Freugh.
Following the success of ‘Bristow 13’, Callen-Lenz were again selected to provide high tempo operations of multiple UAS types both within and beyond visual line of sight to provide simulated threats for a variety of sensors. The trials were a huge success with dozens of sorties flown during the week despite challenging weather conditions with reliability and repeatability of UAS sorties being a crucial factor.

Callen-Lenz crews provided five different ‘threat’ UAS types of both fixed and rotary wing, operating up to three UAS at once between the surface and 3000’ and up to 10km range from the pilot. The service provided to MOD included on-board logging of aircraft truth data in addition to real-time transmission of truth data. The UK MOD’s Bristow trials are the only counter-UAS trials of their kind outside the USA and Callen-Lenz are delighted to be able to support this crucial work.

Callen-Lenz are a UK based UAS operator, integrator and R&D organisation with a long track record of reliable, commercial remote sensing and trials operations. Through its subsidiary SkyCircuits it also conducts rapid development of bespoke UAS avionics capabilities, both in support of operational work and for a growing range of OEM and off the shelf avionics products.
