The New York City Drone Film Festival

The New York City Drone Film Festival

FUTABANYCDFF

This event celebrates the art of drone photography. The event is scheduled for March 7, 2015. One of the works screened is a 30-second video commissioned by Hobbico to promote the Futaba 14SG radio. It was produced by Manuel Santos, a pilot many of you may know. Manuel is a Futaba Team pilot and aerial photography pioneer, who will also attend the festival. He’s also a fun guy to hang around with at an RC event!

Randy Scott Slavin is a director, landscape photographer and aerial cinematographer. He is eager to change the public perception of “drones.”

“Drones truly expand the possibilities of cinematography so much,” he told the New York Post in November. “This is the most amazing cinematic advancement in the past twenty years.”

The New York City Drone Film Festival jury consists of a select group of television professionals and drone cinematographers.

Awards will be presented in categories that include:

  • Landscape
  • Travel
  • FPV
  • Proximity
  • Technical Flying
  • Most Epic Dronie
  • Best in Show
  • Audience Choice

More about Manuel Santos:

RC pilot Manuel Santos has explored aerial photography for over 15 years. His 14SG video shows how the radio’s unique conditions feature can a help drone pilot film the scenes they want more easily. The conditions feature can save multiple sets of control parameters for their aircraft. This allows the pilot/photographer to tailor each set for a specific purpose.
