ASTM Advertises F-38 Standards For Sale

I requested to see “public” copies of the published standards several days ago. Well, the ASTM site is now showing that the standards are ready for purchase. I for one will not purchase a copy of what will be part of the NPRM and eventually the law of the land.

The RCAPA had to cut ties with the ASTM over this very issue. The ASTM had initially insisted that the public would have to pay to read the standards as part of the sUAS rule NPRM. It took letter writing, phone calls and the disaffiliation of the RCAPA with the ASTM to get them to change their stance. They finally agreed to make the standards available to the public for review, and now that time has come.

I have emailed the Chairman Ted Wierzbanowski and ASTM staff Stephen Mawn requesting public (free) copies of the standards and a roster of F-38 members and their affiliations.
