Hexagon acquires Aibotix, an innovative manufacturer of advanced drones

Kassel, February 2014 The Hexagon Group from Sweden acquires the Kassel manufacturer of flying robots as of now. Hexagon is an experienced company with 14 000 employees in 40 countries and leading global provider of integrated design, measurement and visualization technologies.

Hexagon’s years of experience in professional solutions and the wide range of consolidates to the benefit of Aibotix through the acquisition. As part of Hexagon Aibotix can access an international sales structure and integrate a wide range of sensors and software.

Hexagon Technologies measures with great precision and tremendous quickness large amounts of complex data that are visualized via engineering and geospatial software. The products of Aibotix are ideal for delivering highly accurate geo-information, which is an excellent complement to the Hexagon products. By combining the surveying technologies with the products of Aibotix many highly innovative applications for small and large businesses arise.

Leica Geosystems GmbH and Intergraph also belong to the Hexagon group. Aibotix and Leica have already received a strategic partnership in May 2013 to develop the inspection and monitoring market from the air. By purchasing Hexagon the cooperation between Leica and Aibotix is now even stronger.
