Christine Tacon CBE Joins the Board of URSULA Agriculture
LAMMA 2014 – Christine Tacon CBE has joined the Board of URSULA Agriculture as a Non-Executive Director. She brings a wealth of experience in the agricultural sector and will help to steer the company’s future commercial direction.
Christine is an experienced director across both the commercial and public sector. A Chartered Engineer with 12 years’ experience in sales and marketing (Mars, Anchor, Vodafone), Christine ran the Co-operative Group’s farming business, the largest in the UK, for 11 years. She was awarded a CBE for services to agriculture in 2004.
Christine is the first Groceries Code Adjudicator; this part time role involves overseeing the implementation of the Groceries Supply Code of Practice between retailers and their direct suppliers. She is a Non-Executive Director of the Met Office and Anglia Farmers, a Member of the Natural Environment Research Council and a Governor of Harper Adams University. She chairs the BBC Rural Affairs Advisory Committee and the Food and Drink Engineering Forum.

With Christine’s help we will now expand our capacity to deliver timely state of the crop intelligence whilst continuing to develop new techniques, processes and working practices across the agricultural supply chain,” continued Keyworth.
Christine said, “I am passionate about the wider use of engineering and new technologies in agriculture. There is a great opportunity in the use of satellite and aerial data to improve both agricultural yields and targeting of pesticide and fungicide use. URSULA Agriculture has made significant inroads, having already gathered over 1 million hectares of data in the UK and achieved demonstrable improvement in potato yields and black grass identification. I am delighted to join the company at this time and will help URSULA Agriculture achieve its potential both in the UK and internationally.”
