WILLEMSTAD – The Curacao Public Prosecutor (OM) and Curacao Police Corps (KPC) will use modern means to tackle the growing crime during the first quarter of the new year. The Dutch Department of Defense has sent the unmanned aircraft called Raven to the island for this period. With this aircraft it will be possible for the authorities to detect and follow criminals.

Especially before and after the carnival season there is a peak in robberies and other crimes. The OM wants to do everything humanly possible to achieve a significant decrease in crime during this period.

The request to the Ministry of Defense of the Kingdom for the deployment of an unmanned aircraft was granted.

The unmanned aircraft provides more information about a situation and environment, which the authorities get by using cameras that transmit images to a ground station. As a result, appropriate measures can be taken.
