QuestUAV Used in Huge Angola Project

luanda

Skeye BV carried out a large aerial survey for the government of Angola. The aim of the project was to map a large area of Luanda bordering the coast. The project area measured around 20 square kilometers.

Over 130 ground control points were established in the area prior to starting the aerial survey. A GPS base station was setup on top of a hotel to be able to broadcast GPS correction signals in real time. With the Quest 300, fixed wing, unmanned aircraft over 12,000 images were taken at a height of 400 feet above ground level in 30 different flights. In the absence of good take off and landing spots most of these flights were carried out beyond line of sight. Sometimes the Quest 300 flew over 3.5 km away from the pilot and observer.

A salt water landing abruptly stopped our operations but thanks to the excellent and very fast service of the Quest team we were able to be back up and running in a couple of days.
