Lithgow on Fire

Lithgow on Fire

Blue Mountains fires

Some thought provoking footage from a quadrocopter, the aftermath of just one of the 73 fires currently burning in New South Wales,  29 of those fires are uncontrolled.

The State Mine fire at Lithgow was one of the biggest blazes that have been ravaging since last Thursday.

Not every small town could have a manned helicopter on standby but a low cost unmanned aircraft with a GoPro can give almost real time situational awareness. One has to wonder why every fire department on the planet does not have at least one person trained to fly them with a unit on standby.

Lets hope these fires are contained and that the fire fighters return safely to their families soon.
