International Symposium for Personal and Commercial Spaceflight (ISPCS) 2013

LAS CRUCES, N.M. – Officials with the 2013 International Symposium for Personal and Commercial Spaceflight (ISPCS),today announced that day one of the symposium will address the timely topic of the International Space Station (ISS) as a platform for innovation that could create giant leaps in human knowledge. Industry leading keynote speakers and panelists, throughout the day, will focus on commercial human spaceflight programs, their relationships to the ISS and how the emergence of the U.S. National Laboratory will be a platform to evolve not only research, but also a development facility to foster first steps in product development.
“The ISS is a technology platform that is essential for the evolution and maturity of commercial space transportation,” said Patricia Hynes, Ph.D., chair of ISPCS. “People who come to ISPCS will have the opportunity to discuss with the primary investors what further investments are needed to diversify the human spaceflight industry, what is realistic to expect given the risks, and the timeline for success. Only significant rewards could justify the investments being made to develop human commercial space transportation. Our hand-crafted agenda combined with unique networking opportunities and the intimate setting once again makes this must attend event of the year.”
Some of the prestigious keynote speakers confirmed for the first day of the symposium include:

·         Bill Gerstenmaier, Associate Administrator, Human Exploration and Operations, NASA

·         Gwynne Shotwell, President and Chief Operating Officer, SpaceX

·         Duane Ratliff, Director of Operations, CASIS

·         Sandy Magnus, Executive Director, AIAA
