Firebomber UAS, Nitrofirex

Great new video from the Nitrofirex people, I am still a bit lost about the night time bit.

NITROFIREX stands for an innovative and globally unique solution that enables active aerial fire-fighting also at night time by combining already existing military infrastructure and state-of-the-art UAS technology.

Current manned aerial firefighting systems suffer from operational restrictions especially at night. Here NITROFIREX introduces a completely new concept consisting of several Autonomous Propelled Gliders (APGs) that are able of carrying large amounts of extinguishing agent inside their integrated tanks.

Once being launched from the rear ramp of any heavy transport aircraft the squadron of APGs autonomously navigate to the seat of fire and drop their liquid payload in a coordinated and sequenced manner. Immediately after the high precision release the APGs climb to the safety altitude, return and land autonomously at the base of operation where the sequence starts again.

The application of already operative and sophisticated technology leads to reduced risks during R&D and assures low production and operation costs.

These capabilities include:

The fight against forest fires.

To combat a nuclear, biological or chemical emergency

To act on meteorological phenomena.

To combat pests or to spray crops in remote or inaccessible areas.

For night time fumigation of drug plantations.
