Sagetech ADS-B Technology Selected for NextGen Satellite Constellation

Sagetech Corporation has won a subcontract by Harris Corporation (NYSE: HRS), an international communications company that is providing integrated Automatic Dependent Surveillance-Broadcast (ADS-B) payloads for AireonSM, a revolutionary advancement in air traffic management that will be hosted on Iridium’s second-generation satellite constellation, Iridium NEXT.

“We are thrilled that Sagetech has been selected by Harris to play an important role in the development of hosted payload receivers for Aireon,” said Sagetech President Kelvin Scribner. “Sagetech’s expertise in ADS-B technology positions us to be an important asset on this project.”

Aireon will provide global space-based ADS-B coveragethrough Iridium NEXT, a low-Earth orbiting (LEO) system of interlinked satellites that will begin launching in 2015. Leveraging more than 50 years of space experience, Harris will provide space-qualified ADS-B receivers to fly as hosted payloads on Iridium NEXT. Working with Harris, Sagetech will deliver the ADS-B signal processing technology for each of the receivers. Sagetech also will deliver the firmware licenses that decode the ADS-B messages from aircraft.

Sagetech’s innovative ADS-B technology is available to the general aviation market as well, Scribner notes, with the company’s “Clarity” family of affordably priced ADS-B receivers.
