Fallin to discuss unmanned systems research

OKLAHOMA CITY — Gov. Mary Fallin and state leaders are expected to make an announcement about the future of research and development of unmanned aerial systems in Oklahoma.

Fallin will join Secretary of Science and Technology Steve McKeever and Adjutant General Myles Deering on Thursday at the state Capitol to discuss the industry.

Fallin and a delegation of Oklahoma business leaders specifically targeted the industry at a conference in Washington last year, promoting the state to industry officials.

Fallin has said Oklahoma is building a reputation in both the aerospace and unmanned vehicle industries.

Oklahoma State University’s Multispectral Laboratories owns and operates an unmanned vehicle runway and test facility in Ponca City, and Fallin says the state also offers 200 square miles of testing airspace.
