MONCKS CORNER, S.C. — A South Carolina Army National Guard unit is conducting practice flights over Berkeley County Airport with a small unmanned aerial vehicle.

Guard spokesman Tim Irvin says soldiers from A company, 4th Battalion, 118th Infantry Regiment, are scheduled to use the small UAV on Wednesday so they can prepare for an upcoming deployment.

The UAV, which has a wing span of about four feet, is known as a Raven and can send live video and still images to its operators. The Raven is used for surveillance and reconnaissance missions and to find targets during combat.
