AUVSI 2011 Begins

The products, patter and shoes have been polished. Ties straightened.

Will AUVSI 2011 be a triumph with a sea of cutting edge technology and airspace announcements or just more of the same?

PAS 2011 on the UAS side was thought to be somewhat dull amongst industry insiders, mostly seen before and downbeat.

Probably the most important thing that can happen at AUVSI 2011 is for the floor to press the FAA for answers on NAS integration.

The NPRM date has been moved a couple of times this year, one more slip and it will have been pushed back by a year.

It would seem that some enforcement action against non COA sUAS use by Newscorp might be taken but nothing was done about Austrian Raphael Pirker and his FPV flight through New York.

Dozens of companies are chomping at the bit to start aerial photography business using sUAS and these seem to have been largely ignored by all players. Small business is what the USA needs now to help itself out of the pit from the bottom up.

Can it really be that it will take another couple of years for them to start or will a rabbit be pulled from a hat by the FAA?

Patrick will be on the ground for sUAS News looking for real stories, not just hype.
