112 UAV Squadron celebrates forth anniversary.

The 112 Unmanned Aerial Vehicle Squadron at Sri Lanka Air Force Wirawila celebrated its 4th Anniversary on the 1st June 2011 at the unit premises with the participation of all ranks.

The UAV squadron was an active part of the Humanitarian operation which concluded in 2009. They were in the front and above of the ground troops. The Unmanned Aerial vehicles were used for rescue missions from which they gathered valuable information to guide aircraft as well as to assist the Army and Navy in conducting operations.

Presently they are engaged with development and other special projects being carried out at such as Hambantota Port, Maththala Air Port and Colombo development projects.

Presently Wing Commander Mohan Balasuriya, the Commanding Officer of SLAF Weerawila is acting as the Commanding Officer of the 112 UAV Squadron as well.
